The rules

Goal

  • Texas Hold'em: two cards for you, five in the middle for everyone. The best five-card hand wins the pot.
  • You can also win without showing your cards: if everyone folds, the pot is yours.

A betting round

  • The two players after the button post the blinds, then everyone gets two cards.
  • On your turn: fold, call, raise, or check if nobody has bet.
  • Four betting rounds: before the flop, on the flop (three cards), the turn (one more) and the river (the last one).

Hands

  • From strongest to weakest: royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, pair, high card.
  • With the same combination, the highest cards decide; otherwise the pot is split.

Cash and Spin

  • Cash game: pick your blinds, sit down and leave whenever you want, with your chips.
  • Spin & Go: three players, the wheel draws the prize before the first hand, last one standing takes it all.

Tips

  • Play fewer hands, but play them hard: folding often is nothing to be ashamed of.
  • Position matters: acting last lets you see what the others do first.
